Jasper Goodall: WIP October 2025
After extensive preparation and process testing the first small test images of Jasper’s wheat weavings have been printed using the polymer photogravure technique. This modern adaptation of one of the earliest photographic reproduction methods sees the image printed using oil based inks on a traditional etching press. It has a jewel-like organic feel with the plate impression de-bossing the paper as it goes through the heavy press. Once the final plates are made and printed, editions will be available here at Solkka.
Sanna Annukka: WIP July 2025
Exciting work is happening behind the scenes in Sanna Annukka’s studio with two new Blue and Stone Abstract paintings ready to frame (more of these to come) and a new development in the making.
Blue and Stone abstract I and II are 40 x 50 cm acrylic on wooden panel framed in natural wood. They feature highly textured almost relief-like elements that stack and interlock to form joyful and unexpected compositions.
Available October 2025.
From left (or top if you are on a mobile): A deep oak block awaiting its totem painting. Panels prepared with layers of texture ready for working on. Brainstorming early stage sketches for the totem paintings.
These new works will comprise varied iterations and sizes of solid oak blocks filled with a highly textured totemic compositions. They can be freestanding or wall mounted.
The early examples of these new works will be available October 2025. Sign up to our mailing list to be the first to know when they hit the gallery.
Jasper Goodall: WIP July 2025
Since investigating natural sculpture in his series Where Once We Stood On Scragged Oak Hill Jasper has begun to explore working with wheat and is learning to make corn dollies. After trawling online second hand book sellers he has begun the process of teaching himself to weave with straw with the aim of photographing the results and making an artwork in print form.
Corn dolly making is a heritage craft that has faced significant decline in recent times. Unlike so much else where there’s often a handy instructional You-Tube video, learning resources for straw craft are extremely scarce. Whilst there are a few instructional videos online these often only cover the basics. Learning from books involves much frustration as one attempts to decode written instruction into manual manipulations that often don’t seem to correlate until it finally clicks and things begin to take shape.
Early photographic experiments.
