Two photographs of wheat weavings (made by the artist).
Pigment ink on 90 gsm Awagami Kitakata select paper with four deckle edges.
40 × 52 cm. Edition of 10 + 2 APs
Kitakata is a Japanese paper made of Gampi fibres so whilst this paper is lightweight it is incredible strong. It was chosen for its natural feel and straw colouring which has flecks and imperfections that complement the subject matter.
These two wheat weavings are a variation on a design called the Hermetic Cross and a variation of an ancient design hailing from North Africa – the Arabic Cage.
Framing recommendations: ask your framer to choose a complimentary mount-board and affix the paper to this using just hinges in all four corners (not dry mounted) The paper will sit lightly on the mount-board with a small 10mm gap to the frame edge.
