Pigment ink on 90 gsm Awagami Kitakata select paper with four deckle edges.
40 × 52 cm. Edition of 10 + 2 APs
Kitakata is a Japanese paper made primarily of Gampi fibres, so whilst this paper is lightweight it is incredibly strong. It was chosen for its natural feel and straw-like colouring which has fibrous flecks that complement the organic nature of the subject matter.
Samhain blessing (left) is a design conceived by the artist it draws on themes around the triple goddess - maiden mother and crone. Samhain marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. At this time of turning, the abundance of the mother becomes Cailleach - the hag, who brings darkness and bitter winds to the land. Marie de Moisson (right) is a traditional weaving from northern France and translates as Marie of the harvest.
Framing recommendations: ask your framer to choose a complimentary mount-board and affix the paper to this using just hinges in all four corners (not dry mounted) The paper will sit lightly on the mount-board with a small 10mm gap to the frame edge.
